Pursuant to Governor Abbott's proclamation on March 18, 2020, suspending provisions of the Texas Election Code to allow political subdivisions to postpone their 2020 local elections, Southwest Texas Junior College District elects to utilize this authority to postpone the May 2, 2020 election until November 3, 2020.
With this order the candidate filing for the May 2, 2020 election will remain valid for the November 3, 2020 election and will not be reopened.
All ballots by mail for those over 65 will be valid for the postponed election and all ballots by mail for those expected to be absent for the May election will not be valid for the postponed election.
Major relevant dates for the November election:
Voter registration deadline - October 5, 2020
Deadline to submit ABBM - October 23, 2020
Early Voting - October 13, 2020 - October 30, 2020
This order was adopted at a duly called meeting of Southwest Texas Junior College District Board of Trustees on March 23, 2020.
