Veterans Educational Benefits

Southwest Texas Junior College processes all claims for VA Educational Benefits electronically with VA ONCE, a web based claim processing application. The use of VA ONCE has resulted in much faster processing time of VA claims.

Interested Veterans can apply for VA Educational Benefits, Montgomery GI Bill Active Duty, Montgomery GI Bill Selective Reserve or VEAP)at Southwest Texas Junior College by submitting the following documents to the VA Certifying Official at Southwest Texas Junior College Student Financial Aid Office:
 

  1. VA Form 22-1990 or VA Form 22-1995 if you have used VA benefits at another college or you are changing your course of study. 
  2. Transcripts from prior colleges for evaluation of possible credit.
  3. Southwest Texas Junior College VA Course Selection Form

 

Students who are eligible for Survivors and Dependent Education Benefits (Chapter 35) should submit the following documents to the VA Certifying Official at Southwest Texas Junior College:

  1. VA Form 22-5490 or VA Form 22-5495 if you have used Chapter 35 benefits at another college or you are changing your course of study.
  2. Transcripts from prior colleges for evaluation of possible credit.
  3. Southwest Texas Junior College VA Course Selection Form.

Students interested in applying for the Hazelwood Exemption, may find additional information on The College for Texans website.
