How to Apply for Financial Aid

On the Internet(Quickest Response):

Applicants are encouraged to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on line at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/. Computers are available at our campuses located in Uvalde, Eagle Pass, Del Rio and Crystal City.

By filling out a Paper FAFSA and mailing it:
Applicants may fill out and mail out a FAFSA to the U. S. Department of Education using the envelope provided in the application form. Applications are also available at all campus locations. If you are not near one of our campus sites and are not able to locate an application please contact our main office at 830-591-7343.

What Happens After You Apply?

FAFSA on the WEB:
Your application will be processed as soon as you complete it and submit it to the Department of Education from their website. As long as you have a valid PIN number and included your PIN in the application, Southwest Texas Junior College will recieve your application from the U.S. Department of Education on the following day and will have the data ready to process within three to five working days.

By Mail:

The application will be processed in approximately four weeks. After 4 weeks have passed, you will receive a Student Aid Report ( SAR ) in the mail. The SAR will show all of the information that you reported on your application and will notify you if there are any problems with your application. Your SAR will also have your Expected Family Contribution ( EFC ), the number used to determine your eligibility for federal student aid.
