Welcome to the Student Financial Aid Office

At Southwest Texas Junior College we assist approximately 2000 student each year in funding their educational goals. We offer a variety of opportunities to our students; which include grants, scholarships, exemptions, loans and student institutional employment. Regardless of your financial resources we are here to assist you in funding your education.

Please take the time to explore our website. We have provided a variety of information regarding eligibility requirements and awarding procedures. Our staff is also available at four campus locations and only a phone call away. Please call us so that we can help you begin the process in fulfilling your educational goals.

Attention Financial Aid Recipients: Our offices will be closing for the Christmas Break beginning December 15th and reopening on January 5th.
Students that were awarded in the fall 2008 semester will have funds available for the upcoming spring 2009. Funds will be available as early as January 9th for bookstore charges.

What if I completed an appeal for the fall 2008 semester?
Students’ that completed a fall 2008 appeal and received an award for the fall semester will continue to receive these funds on a probationary basis for the spring 2009 semester. If your award is on hold please contact the student financial aid office as soon as possible.

What happens if I completely withdrew from course in fall 2008 semester?
Completely withdrawing from courses during the fall 2008 term may result in several different scenarios. A student’s financial aid award may be placed on hold as a result of the withdrawal. The student may also find that they hold an outstanding balance with Southwest Texas Junior College or the Department of Education. If the student plans on attending in the spring 2009 semester, he or she will need to resolve these issues prior to enrolling in course.
